Dressing is a classic when it comes to Thanksgiving or Sunday Dinners. While many stuffings and dressings are made with just traditional bread, this savory and delicious recipe combines cornbread and sausage for an irresistible side dish!

How to make cornbread and sausage dressing

Dressing is like the cherry on top for turkey. While many recipes call for a bread and celery base, this recipe is more exciting. By adding a couple more ingredients to that list, you have a flavorful and savory dressing.

Dressing is often served with turkey. However, it’s also great with tons of other meats or simply by itself. I recommend this stuffing with ham, chicken, or pork chops. It’s a wonderful compliment to just about any meat!

Does stuffing go bad?

Stuffing can last for a few days if refrigerated. It will be safe in your refrigerator for a few days, but it’s best to not eat it after more than a week. If you’re wanting to enjoy it much later, freeze it for 3-4 weeks. Properly storing in airtight containers/baggies should keep your stuffing safe. While I love hot stuffing, many love the taste of cold stuffing too!

Is dressing gluten free?

Unfortunately, no. This recipe is not gluten free. The cornbread and French bread contain gluten which makes this a no-go. However, you can make or buy your own gluten free cornbread and French bread. These simple substitutions will be more friendly to those who want to forego gluten. Are stuffing and dressing the same thing?

Yes and no. The truth is, stuffing and dressing are nearly the same thing. Like identical twins, you can hardly tell them apart. The key difference is in how they’re prepared. Like its name suggests, stuffing is made by being stuffed. Typically it’s cooked inside of a bird, like turkey on Thanksgiving day. Dressing, on the other hand, is prepared on its own, to the side. They taste nearly identical and are essentially the same thing. Both are delicious and worth having!
