Could it be that we are chasing the wrong sources of 'alternative' energy? Could gas, oil and nuclear be the best options? We don’t need to cause irreparable damage to unique, fragile and irreplaceable deep sea habitats to fuel a green transition. The proposition being promoted by some that we must have deep sea mining is not only incorrect, it effectively proscribes a “cure” that will kill the patient. What we do need is far more scientific study of our deep sea habitats and the vast number of species within them and while we do that, no deep sea mining at all.
